This month’s featured dancer is Morgan Stanley. She is 15 and dances at Elite Dance Academy in Brunswik, Ohio. It’s a two and a half hour trip to dance at the studio she loves. Please enjoy the interview.
DA: How old were you when you started dancing?
Morgan: When I started dancing I was 6 years old!
DA: What studio do you currently dance at?
Morgan: I dance at Elite Dance Academy
DA: What is your favorite dance style?
Morgan: I love all dance styles but if I had to pick one it would be contemporary!
DA: Who has been the most inspirational teacher that you have had and why?
Morgan: Alex, because she’s not only my mentor, she is my friend. She challenges me and encourages me to do my very best!
DA: What obstacles have you had to overcome in order to keep dancing?
Morgan: There is a very big obstacle that I had to overcome… There was a studio that my sister and I went to for 8 years. We both had outgrown that studio as we weren’t being challenged enough. So we when we left, we immediately started to look for a new studio! Two months later we joined Elite Dance Academy and we have been with them for 8 months and I can’t tell you how happy we are! Elite Dance Academy treats us so well and we love it there! And I can’t wait till our next convention soon!
DA: What do you do when you feel as though you want to give up?
Morgan: I am lucky enough to have never felt that way, but I know many have and I just want to tell them to stick it out because the hard work truly does pay off in the end.
DA: What is the best piece of advice you’ve been given during your dance career?
Morgan: Go confidently in the direction of your dreams, live the life you have imagined! – Dee Caspary
Stay hungry to become the best you can be. Never be satisfied with the level of artistry you’ve attained. You can always be better. – Mia Michaels
DA: What do you foresee yourself doing with dance in the future?
Morgan: I hope to become a professional dancer, I am currently not sure which direction I would like to take that though.
