Photographer: Rhiannon Lee

DA: Why did you get into Photography?

Rhi: I started shooting when I was a kid.  I thought, how fascinating to be able to capture one single moment in time forever?  I literally had a toy camera as a baby!  And, I grew up a dancer and my boyfriend is a professional choreographer, so there is much dance inspiration in my life.  It’s in my heart!

DA: What is your favorite location to shoot?

Rhi: I love locations with character!  Honestly the more unique the better.  I love being able to capture the spirit of a given city, coupled with that city’s local talents!

DA: Who inspires you?

Rhi: The dancers I shoot, of course! ☺  Nothing is more inspiring to me personally than the ability to capture one’s passion, sheer dedication, and incredible talent.

DA: Do you have a favorite shot (or two)?

Rhi: Oh wow!  Honestly, I have so many of my own. I always get so excited after a shoot. I have to immediately look at what I shot that night.  However, many years ago I purchased this beautiful large black and white photo print of a Cuban ballet dancer leaping in pointe shoes and delicate tutu.  I never knew how much significance that photo would play in my life… until I had the opportunity to photograph dancers.

DA: How can someone get in touch with you?

Rhi: Email is the best way, most definitely.  info@rhileephotography.com

DA: What is the best place to view your work online?

Rhi: Instagram: @rhileephotog and Website: www.rhileephotography.com

DA: If you could have the perfect photoshoot…who and where?

Rhi: Perfect photoshoot would be….  With a dancer who always wanted a photoshoot.  Someone with a story and someone who was so deserving that I couldn’t resist photographing!

DA: Any advice to help dancers relax when having a photoshoot?

Rhi: YES!!!!!   I would suggest to remember to always have the most FUN with a photo shoot.  Dancers have trained so hard for years and most often, this is the time to really show what they have worked so much for!  Remember to just dance and to show fluidity through movements.  The best photos are those caught in those moments when you have forgotten you are on a photo shoot and you are truly dancing!
