Kaylee Kintz – Kaylee Kintz Photography

This month’s featured photographer is Kaylee Kintz of Kaylee Kintz Photography. We interviewed Kaylee this month and are pleased to share the interview with you. Enjoy!

Business Name: Kaylee Kintz Photography
Owners name: Kaylee Kintz
Social Media Info: @kaylee_kintz_photography

DA: Why did you get into Photography?

Kaylee: I have always been known as the girl who had a camera glued to her hand. Ever since I was young, I would always be taking 100’s of pictures of my family, pets, friends, nature, and anything that came across my path. There is something so beautiful about being able to capture a moment of time in a photograph. Framing memories is my favorite thing to do. I find so much joy in photography. I am lucky to say I truly enjoy my job.

DA: What is your favorite location to shoot?

Kaylee: I really like to find unique locations (abandoned building, strange architecture, etc.) I really enjoy creating original works of art. I love to think outside of the box. I am also a dance teacher and award-winning choreographer, so my background in dance really helps me to be innovative.

DA: Who inspires you as a photographer?

Kaylee: There are many people who inspire me. I have had the pleasure of watching and being photographed by Chris Reilly Photography. He is an amazing man with a true talent. He was the first person who ever inspired me to pursue dance photography. I also love the work of Jordan Matter, Christian Moore, and Jose Perez. All of these photographers create gorgeous works of art. I look at their work daily for continuous inspiration. Jose and Christian have both helped give me advice and encouragement as I began my business. I am thankful for both of them.

DA: Do you have a personal favorite shot (or two)?

Kaylee: I recently did a photoshoot with Sydney Schwartz at a barn. I had an idea for a unique portrait shot. I wanted half of Sydney’s face and half of the horses face. The portrait turned out AMAZING. (To see it, look at the featured photos below.) This is my favorite portrait I have ever done. For my dance photos, I have so many favorites I don’t think I could choose. You can see a handful of my favorites in my featured work!

DA: What are some things that contribute to a successful photo shoot?

Kaylee: Patience and encouragement. Sometimes a dancer will have to do the same pose over and over again before you get the perfect shot. Always be patient with them and encourage them that they CAN do it! A lot of the time dancers tell me that they “can’t” do something. I am a firm believer that success begins with the willingness to try.  I always have the dancer at least try to do what I am asking.

DA: What is one piece of equipment that you could not live without?

Kaylee: I love my camera bag. I shoot with a variety of lenses, so I need a lightweight bag to always have on my back. I don’t know what I would do without that backpack!

DA: Any advice to help dancers relax when having a photoshoot?

Kaylee: Always remind them that they are doing this to have FUN! They dance because they love it and are passionate about it. There is no pressure on them to “win a trophy” and they are not competing against anyone. This is their time to showcase what a beautiful dancer they are!

DA: How can someone get in touch with you?

The best way to communicate with me is email or Instagram. My email is kayleekintzphotography@gmail.com or Instagram (@kaylee_kintz_photography) direct messaging!

DA: What is the best place to view your work online?

Kaylee: Right now I have switched over to solely working through Instagram. I have a large profile with many works of art on my page. Be sure to follow me and check out my work!

DA: Anything else you would like to share?

Kaylee: In a world where you can be anything, be kind. This world needs more kind people. Choose to be one of them. Comment nice things on peoples’ photos. Never leave critiques or rude comments. It tears people down, while I spend my life trying to build them up! Celebrate other peoples’ successes.

Thanks Kaylee for sharing a little bit about yourself with us! Please make sure to follow her on Instagram and leave a comment below!
