Yailin Benitez – Yailin Benitez Photography
This month’s featured photographer is Yailin Benitez of Yailin Benitez Photography. She is located in Southern Florida. This month we interviewed her to find out how she got started and to learn more about her. If you enjoy it please leave a comment!
DA: Why/How did you get into Photography?
Yailin: I started photography during my senior year in High School. My senior thesis was about photography. I had an amazing mentor by the name of Barbara Brooks that taught me everything I know today.
DA: What is your favorite location to shoot?
Yailin: Palm Beach Island in Florida
DA: Who inspires you as a photographer?
Yailin: My Family. They always believed in me and encourage me to follow my photography dream.
DA: Do you have a personal favorite shot (or two)?
Yailin: I was shooting during a fashion show in Miami. I was approaching people and taking pictures of the audience. I wanted to take a photo of a beautiful little girl, but she was very intimidated by me. I found out, she had autism. I allowed her to take a picture with my camera and get used to the equipment. After she was comfortable, she allowed me to take pictures of her. Her family was so impressed and happy that I became her official photographer. She is always my favorite person to shoot.
DA: If you could have the perfect photoshoot…who and where?
Yailin: My perfect photoshoot would have to be in Cuba and I would love to take pictures of my entire family together in one shoot.
DA: What is one piece of equipment that you could not live without?
Yailin: My camera. I do not go anywhere without it.
DA: Any advice to help dancers relax when having a photoshoot?
Yailin: I usually make dancers laugh and giggle so they feel more comfortable. I tell them to have fun and be themselves. It is important that they focus on themselves and this photoshoot. They need to forget about other dancers and they should never try to replicate a photo or move from another dancer. This is their time and they should focus on their strengths and individual abilities.
DA: Any future goals or plans that you are excited about?
Yailin: Yes, I’m working on a whole new logo and website. I am also working on my own personal studio.
DA: How can someone get in touch with you?
Yailin: Email: firstname.lastname@example.org 561-574-5267 ig: @yailin.benitez.photography
DA: What is the best place to view your work online?
